Nigel’s main role is Yard Operative. However, he also has additional responsibilities and is our resident PAT Tester, and Repair Specialist. In addition, he is a fully trained fire marshal and has a range of accreditations including those in PAT testing and Banksman work.
Nigel also regularly goes out on location with the service and delivery drivers, assisting in the loading, off-loading and servicing of portable toilets. He also assists in the training of new members of staff, passing on his wealth of experience and teaching the skills required to deliver and service our range of products and services.
Nigel has enjoyed working for Challenger Site Services for many years and has commented that he feels the owners are like his extended family. He goes on to say “All the staff at Challenger are really friendly and treat you very well.”
We like to have a little fun at Challenger to lighten the day and one of the funniest moments Nigel particularly remembers was when he was tricked into believing one of the portable toilets had been used by Hollywood actors Tommy Lee Jones and Samuel L. Jackson whilst they were in Manchester filming scenes for the blockbuster film, Captain America. Some of our workforce left fake signs and messages posted in the toilet in question, which led Nigel to believe he was cleaning up after stars. His claim to fame ended a few days later when his colleagues admitted the whole thing had been a set up and the prank is still fondly remembered today.
Nigel will soon be taking to the airways with Challenger, as he will be accompanies one of the Partners, Robert Allen, on a business trip to visit the WWETT Exhibition in Indianapolis, America. This is a first for Robert as well as Nigel. Find out how they got on in our follow up blog.
